Sepro appoints a new chief executive officer | HP Ireland announces a new storage team

Sepro, a provider of rating and billing solutions to the telecommunications and e-business industries, has appointed Desmond Pieri as chief executive officer. US-born Desmond Pieri assumes full responsibility for the day to day running of the company. Pieri has played an integral role in starting and growing six high-tech companies, including MIT Media Lab Ventures, Ember Corporation and E Ink. His industry experience spans wireless, software, computer telephony, speech technologies, and the Internet.

Co-founder and former chief executive officer Declan Ganter has become executive chairman, concentrating on strategic investor relations, mergers and acquisitions.

Hewlett Packard announced a new team dedicated to drive forward its storage offerings to Irish businesses. The new HP Ireland storage team are Jim Agnew, storage sales consultant; Gerry Clarke, technical storage consultant; Paul Geraghty, Declan McCann and Pierce Byrne, storage services consultants; and Martin Cullen, storage channel manager.

Advance Learning has appointed Robert Moloney to the position of sales and marketing manager in Ireland. Prior to joining the company, Moloney spent six years as global sales manager for Software Architects International. As sales and marketing manager in Ireland, he will be responsible for the management and delivery of ECDL training solutions to Advance Learning's corporate, government, and educational clients throughout Ireland and the North.

Vodafone Group Plc has appointed Vittorio Colao as a director. Colao spent the early part of his career at McKinsey & Co, where he was a partner, before joining Omnitel Pronto Italia SpA as its chief operating officer. In 1999, he became the chief executive officer of Omnitel Pronto Italia SpA (now known as Omnitel Vodafone), before his appointment as regional chief executive officer for Southern Europe in April 2001. Following his appointment to the board of Vodafone, he will continue to be responsible for the group's Southern Europe region.

Siemens Business Services announced the appointment of Richard Stow as senior vice president of the solutions line of business and Chris Howard as senior vice president of the Siemens Group line of business.

Stow will lead SBS' solutions line of business, which is a new business unit established from the consolidation of the IT infrastructure consulting and the e-services teams. He joins Siemens Business Services from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he most recently served as an information technology partner within its management consulting practice.

Howard will be responsible for further developing the SBS business in the US. Before joining Siemens Business Services, he held the position of chief operating officer at Riverton Corp., and prior to that he was senior vice president of professional services at Inacom Corp., a former competitor of Siemens Business Services.

STMicroelectronics, the world's third largest independent semiconductor manufacturer, has appointed Andrea Cuomo as corporate vice president and advanced system technology general manager.

CellPoint Inc., a provider of mobile location software technology and platforms, has made several changes to its board of directors. Jan Rynning, a director since October 2001, will replace Peter Henricsson as chairman of the board. Rynning is a Swedish lawyer, specialising in company reconstructions. Henricsson, who has been the chairman and chief executive officer since inception in 1997, will continue as a working board member full time. Stephen Childs, president of CellPoint, will take on the role as chief executive officer. Childs has been a member of the board of CellPoint since May 2000 and the president since October 2001.
