Winners of it@cork Leaders Awards announced | Consumers unhappy with online transactions
The winners of the inaugural it@cork Leaders Awards, which recognise leaders in technology innovation in Cork, have been announced. Cubic Telecom received the award for Best Emerging Company; Thomas Crosbie Holdings, was the winner of the IT Department castegory; TreeMetrics/Cork Constraint Computation Centre won the award for Research and Development; and Abtran was the winner of the High Potential category.
Irish IT software and services provider Data Solutions has launched a new partner programme called Jump Start. The programme is designed to develop the Citrix XenServer virtualisation reseller program in Ireland. Jump Start gives access to a range of technical, sales and marketing resources with a value of EUR125,000 to each reseller. MJ Flood Technology is the first Data Solutions partner to sign-up and another nine are expected over the course of the next year.
CA, formerly known as Computer Associates, has launched new software for managing BlackBerry smartphones called CA Mobile Device Management. The new product is designed to mitigate security and compliance risks associated with these devices while also reducing total cost of ownership.
Software firm DeCare Systems Ireland (DSI) has launched its new Performance Tuning for Java Applications product which offers a range of performance diagnostics and optimisation services. "Deploying inadequately tested applications into a production environment can lead to costly performance issues that can have a detrimental effect on the business. DSI's Performance Tuning for Java Application service addresses performance issues at both development and production. The service grew out of the critical need from our clients to guarantee service levels and availability," said John Murphy, general manager of DSI.
A new study has found that nearly 86 percent of British consumers who have conducted transactions online in the past year have experienced problems completing transactions. The survey, which was conducted by Harris Interactive and commissioned by software firm Tealeaf, highlighted an unforgiving attitude amongst consumers towards online stores, with 37 percent of those who have experienced problems when conducting an online transaction in the last 12 months saying they would abandon their transaction entirely if they experienced a problem. Ultimately, 40 percent of British consumers who experienced bad customer service from a company's contact centre following an online issue stopped doing business with the company altogether.
