Cruickshank launches online intellectual property audit service | Vodafone unphased by iPhone launch on O2
Dublin-based Asavie Technologies has appointed Ray Nolan, as its non-executive chairman. Nolan is the founder of Web Reservations International and has set up a number of software companies, including Coretime. "Ray's expertise in building technology enterprises means that he will be able to offer valuable advice on how we can build our revenues and profitability," said Ralph Shaw, CEO of Asavie Technologies.
Sony Professional Solutions has appointed Osmosis Ireland as a distributor for its professional solutions products, across the island of Ireland. "Osmosis will have full access to the extensive Sony projector range as well as the commercial display range," said Eamonn Halligan, channel development manager with Sony Professional Solutions Ireland.
The level of internet spam increased from 94 to 95 percent this week, according to research carried out by Irish technical services company IT Force. The company analysed 800,609 e-mails it received and found 761,041 were spam. The top three viruses were Trojan.Dropper-4700, Worm. Nyxem.E, and Worm.SomeFool.Gen-2.
Intellectual property attorney firm, Cruickshank, has launched an online consultancy service. Customers can avail of a one hour free consultancy as part of the IP-Free60 service. They will be offered advice on patents, trademarks, and intellectually property. "Much of the EUR2 billion investment in [annual Irish] R&D is being wasted because of a lack of intellectual property knowledge, and we're seeking to address that," said Donal O'Connor, senior partner of Cruickshank Intellectual Property Attorneys.
PriceWaterhouse Coopers, and its workers, are celebrating. The firm came first in the 2008 list of '50 Best Companies to Work for in Ireland'. Deloitte is celebrating its sixth year on the list while mobile operator Meteor made its first appearance this year. "We want the best for our employees, to provide them with a great place to work and to excel in their chosen careers," said Meteor's human resources director Brid O'Brien.
A mobile internet site has been setup featuring Mr.T and Snickers, following on from the popular 2007 advertisement campaign. The campaign is being launched by WHPR and Return2Sender. The WAP site features a host of content including ringtones, Mr. T soundbites, wallpapers and the Snickers' "Get some nuts challenge" ad. The site can be accessed through Vodafone LIVE or at www.r2s.ie/snickers.
Finally, Vodafone does not appear jealous of O2's contract to sell the much hyped iPhone, in Ireland. "Reports would indicate that sales of the iPhone in other markets have been somewhat disappointing. While the iPhone is a good looking and stylish device, currently it is GPRS and therefore not as fast as 3G, it lacks a quality camera and there has been general frustration over ease of use -- when texting, for example. Irish mobile consumers are very technically able and have exacting standards in terms of their expectations around handset performance. We believe that these expectations may not be met with the iPhone," a spokesperson for the mobile operator told ENN.
