Sheila M Averbuch
Sheila M. Averbuch is the founder and editor of ElectricNews.Net (ENN), the on-line technology news service that has catalogued developments in the Irish Internet industry since 1999. The company publishes the free weekly "ENN Digest" newsletter and publishes breaking tech news daily at www.enn.ie. In 2001 the site earned the top award in the multimedia category at the pan-European On-Line Journalism Awards, and the company was also highlighted as a dot.com success story by the Wall Street Journal Europe in 2000.
Since 1995 Sheila has written about high-tech with a focus on the Internet, and prior to her work with ENN she served as Web columnist for Yahoo! UK & Ireland and the Irish Independent. She also served as series editor for the prime-time series TechTV on Network 2 and was editor of the Internet magazine dot.ie. In the US she was a reporter with the San Jose Business Journal, Silicon Valley's chief business newspaper. Sheila holds an MA in journalism from Stanford University and a BA from Harvard University in American History & Literature.
In 2000 Sheila was named as IT Journalist of the Year by Web Ireland Magazine. She was also named as a finalist for the BPW Business Woman of the Year 2002 and won Best Technology Journalist in the 2003 Net Visionary Awards.
