Women more likely to text than men | Firm launches Ad one-stop-shop platform

Women more likely to text than men: A new report from publisher Packaged Facts concludes (not surprisingly) that consumers aged between 15 and 24 years are the wave of the future for mobile marketing strategies using text messaging and internet on mobile phones. However (more surprisingly) young women are more likely than their male counterparts to use a computer and more likely to own a mobile phone and use it for text messaging.

Mobile phones, MP3 players and hand-held computer devices continue to threaten the traditional hold of the clothing industry on spending in the youth market. Younger consumers are seen as the largest growth segment for the wireless industry based on data supplied by Simmons Market Research Bureau.

Older teenagers are driving an exponential increase in text messaging volumes and Packaged Facts estimates the youth market has a spending power of USD485 billion. "Marketers should note that women in the 15 to 24 age group are more likely to use a computer and more likely to own a mobile phone and use it for text messaging," Don Montuori, Packaged Facts acquisitions editor said.

The research covers the US; a much less mature texting market than currently enjoyed in Ireland or the rest of Europe.

Firm launches Ad one-stop-shop platform: Swedish advertising technology company Eyeblaster plans to launch Advision which, it says, will create, deliver and manage all digital communications through a single administrative platform.

"The Advision platform will enable agency professionals to serve their clients, from the development of the creative brief to reporting on results with newly designed tools to plan, create, serve, measure and optimise interactive campaigns across existing and emerging channels such as mobile and gaming," said Yoav Arnstein, GM international at Eyeblaster.

Eyeblaster has fifteen offices in eleven countries and plans to launch Advision in October.
