LiveIreland

http://www.liveireland.com

Tue Sep 26 10:32:34 +0000 2000

It claims to be Ireland's first Internet-only media stream, and

certainly what we've seen is worth a look. Get live radio, with a

focus on contemporary Irish sounds, plus archived video clips of

downtown Dublin, the St. Pat's parade, and a live Frames gig from

Vicar Street.

Irish Emigrant

http://www.emigrant.ie

Tue Sep 26 10:32:34 +0000 2000

This long-running Irish news site aimed at the ex-pat community has

unveiled a fresh new look, making it easier to find the good stuff

behind the scenes. Get updated news from 32 counties, book reviews,

jobs listings and an archive that can't be beat: five years of

Irish business and general news. The search tool at

hasn't been updated yet

to the new look, but it's still a great way to find past news.

RadioScout

http://publicradio.org/servlet/RadioScout.MainPage

Tue Sep 26 10:32:34 +0000 2000

This invaluable resource makes it possible to search the Web in a

whole new way. Enter in a keyword (the system works better with

single words than with phrases), and you can track down broadcasts

from US public radio covering topics you care about. Public radio

in America includes more of the serious journalism that Europeans

are used to, and RadioScout makes it easy to find and listen to

RealAudio broadcasts about business, technology, healthcare,

children's issues and more. Tick the box to let RadioScout email

you when future programs match your keywords.

So you've decided to be evil

http://members.tripod.com/~mrpuzuzu/index.html

Tue Sep 26 10:32:34 +0000 2000

If you've seen enough B-movies and sci-fi flicks, you'll recognise

the important steps to becoming evil in this helpful Web site. All

the crucial points to remember are conveniently laid out here,

including tips to thwarting the forces of good (hint: don't make

the ventilation ducts in your prison cells big enough for the

"hero" to crawl through). Evil aspirants can also choose a lair

(Floating Fortress, Underground Secret Headquarters of Doom) or

brush up on evil fashion, from the stylish Corporate Suit to

Robotic Exoskeleton.

Irish Brokers Association

http://www.irishbrokers.com

Tue Sep 26 10:32:34 +0000 2000

Meet the members of the Irish insurance brokers' association -- all

600 of them. This new site gives a searchable list of member

brokers, letting visitors request a specific quote from any listed

firm. Aspiring insurance professionals can also use the site to

seek vacancies at a brokerage near them.

HammerAuction.com

http://www.hammerauction.com

Tue Sep 26 10:32:34 +0000 2000

Companies who want to add an auction facility to a Web site have a

new option. This site pledges to put a system in place that lets a

site auction goods online, and there's even a tool to let bidders

get updates on auctions by WAP or SMS. HammerAuction also pledges

fast service, claiming it can auction-enable a site "within hours."

Air Traffic Control System Command Center

http://www.fly.faa.gov

Tue Sep 26 10:32:34 +0000 2000

Keep an eye on the skies with this useful site from the US Federal

Aviation Authority. The site's clickable map of the United States

includes blue dots for major cities across the country. Click on a

dot and you won't see a command center radar map of airplane icons

despite the site's name), but you will see any special notices

about delayed incoming or outgoing air traffic. If adverse

conditions are in place, the site advises travellers to call their

airline for specific schedule changes.

Gaijin A Go Go

http://www.zeroonedesign.com/gogo/main.html

Tue Sep 26 10:32:34 +0000 2000

Oh, the shame. Get a fresh blast of commercial reality with this

site, where you can see paid adverts done by movie superstars

for Japanese TV. Meg Ryan, Demi Moore, Leonardo DiCaprio and other

top names are all here, hawking everything from facial cream to

protein paste, which one of these hapless stars has to suck from a

tube. See it while you can -- apparently Arnold Schwarzenegger was

not amused, and Gaijin a Go Go was forced to remove his piece of,

er, art.

The Rating Zone

http://www.ratingzone.com

Tue Sep 26 10:32:34 +0000 2000

by Aoidin Scully

Spare yourself the taxing business of thinking at this site, which

claims to be able to accurately predict what movies, books or

music you'll like, based your established tastes. You'll have to

register for this free service, then 'train' the software by rating

at least 25 movies, books or musicians. But Rating Zone promises

the trouble is worth it, and it does seem to work, accurately

suggesting other titles (we tried movies) based on star, director

and genre that match users' tastes. Modify your ratings at any

time to ensure better accuracy from the service.

How to Survive Unbearable Stress

http://www.teachhealth.com/

Tue Sep 26 10:32:34 +0000 2000

If you're feeling the strain from a hectic work life, this

companion site to an offline health book could help. Visitors to

the site can read the free, full text of the illustrated book,

which examines the medical basis of stress, depression, anxiety

and drug abuse. Get tips on how to recognise stress or check out

the self-test to determine the real amount of stress in your life.

There's also an eye-opening explanation of what happens inside

your brain during overexposure to stress.
