Scully and Mulder thought they wouldn't see it in their lifetimes,
but the Web can be full of surprises. This intriguing site was
posted by the National Security Agency, the US federal agency
charged with protecting the nation's secrets. As long as your PC
can accept PDF files, you can read everything in the NSA files
about unidentified flying objects, from mainstream media reports
to internal documents like those filed by US Navy crewmen in 1968,
reporting a UFO that may or may not have been a decaying satellite.

Last week we talked about the RatingZone, which uses
personalisation technology to recommend books and movies you'd
like. This week a tip of the cap goes to the surfer who recommended
Music Buddha, a service that plays music, suggests other tunes you
might like, and makes all of this available for purchase. Mubu
requires preparation, though: you'll need to download the special
Beatnik player, but on-screen instructions are provided. Then,
choose a starting point, rate the songs you hear, and you're on the
road to enlightenment.

Eighteen-year-old Brett Banfe has a goal: to go for an entire year
without speaking. A first-year college student in New Jersey, Brett
is documenting his ordeal online, where a live chat window lets him
swap text messages even while mum's the word offline. Brett says
the endgame is worth it: he's raising USD20 a day and gets
USD12,300 overall from the Web site darefordollars.com, which is
earmarked for Head Start, a reading program for inner-city kids.

Justice takes a bizarre turn here at the Internet courthouse,
where plaintiffs can file their claim, submit their evidence,
and receive judgement from the wise Internet-going public. The
system is flexible: parties can decide in advance whether the
decision of the jury will be binding or merely advisory.
Evidence is submitted by e-mail and compiled into a Trial Book,
which jurors must read before rendering their verdict. The
two California lawyers who run the site say it's a faster,
more entertaining legal route for anyone weary of the law's
delay. Their next move: on-line weddings, coming soon.
