Venture capital funding is no laughing matter, but one fund owner
and his partner, a graphic artist, have done a beautiful job of
lampooning the entire process of seeking investment. This online
comic strip charts the vagaries of the investment process, from
seed funding to Initial Public Offering, reserving special jabs for
Internet entrepreneurs and the VCs who feed on them. Watch as the
VCs fall out of love with business-to-consumer e-commerce and run
for the hills of business-to-business. Subtly drawn and extremely
well observed.

If you need to do business research, don't miss this site. CFI
Online is now providing access to private companies' annual returns
and accounts at a rate it says it 25 percent less than the
Companies Registration Office. The site lets users log in, search
for and print out scanned images of documents filed at the CRO
since 1998. The service is both fast and powerful, and each
document retrieved costs IEP1.50. Updates to the images and account
information are made daily, and the main database is updated
weekly.

Heart Foundation offers excellent information on CPR, details
on the major risk factors contributing to heart disease, and
top-notch recipes for healthy starters, main courses and
desserts, all contributed by Irish chefs. The site would
benefit from a search facility, but curious surfers will
also enjoy a leisurely browse.

He grins, he boogies, he's everything an MP3-loving music fan could
want. Dancing Paul and his funky backup dancers are the feature of
this MP3 music site, which lets visitors select the music and the
dance steps, and watch as the dancers do their thing. These aren't
animated characters, but real people photographed in various
dancing moves, then spliced together in a jerky but hilarious dance
to artists like James Brown. Tune in, too, to Paul's own favourite
list of MP3 tunes, including everything from the Miami Vice theme
to Fatboy Slim.

If you have a shred of intellectual curiosity, this site may be the
last stop you ever make on your surfing journeys. Have you ever
wondered how airplanes manage to stay in the sky? Or how a car's
internal combustion engine burns petrol without exploding? How
Stuff Works can help, with a usable search engine to let you trawl
its database of articles and a notable list of the top ten questions
from curious surfers, including, "What are MP3 files?" and (most
intriguingly) "Is flour flammable?"

The Official Academy Awards Site

Tue Sep 26 10:32:34 +0000 2000
The Oscars are back, with their flurry of film, frocks and
fretting nominees. At Oscar.com you can peruse the exhaustive
facts and figures about nominees in all 23 categories, or take
a peek at the Style Guide, where fashion experts pass judgement
on Oscar wear from last year and now. The Oscar Store, however,
is a true disappointment: it sells a single item, a poster of
the Oscar statue.
