NitroSell to create 51 high-tech jobs

20-04-2007

by Maxim Kelly

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheal Martin has been engaging in his favourite pursuit again: announcing new jobs in his Cork backyard.

E-commerce company NitroSell, which specialises in integrating retailers' IT systems with their online sales portals, will create 51 positions over the next four years at its new headquarters in the Airport Business Park in Cork City.

The expansion comes as the two-year-old company aims to complete a EUR1.5 million equity funding round. Founded by Tom Keane and Jerry Walsh, the firm has already attracted EUR750,000 from venture capitalist firm Enterprise Equity. This brings the amount raised since establishment in 2005 to EUR3 million, according to NitroSell.

"This is just the type of indigenous firm that the Government is keen to promote in order to create a knowledge economy," said Minister Martin as he officially opened the new premises on Friday. "It has proven global potential and its technology and business model places it alongside the next wave of internet-based company successes."

NitroSell, which also has offices in Boston, Phoenix, Charlotte and Seattle, said it has web-enabled over 500 businesses in the US. It also has clients in Britain and plans to expand into South America, Australasia and the rest of Europe.

NitroSell, a Microsoft partner, currently employs 16 staff and the new jobs will primarily be in software engineering, but also in sales and marketing and global channel management.

The retail industry player recently appointed Dominic Frazer to its board as global director of sales. Frazer previously worked for TNS (UK).
