If you want to increase the readership for your email newsletter make sure you’ve ticked all the boxes on this 8-point check list:
- 1. Have your subscribe box (example, right) featured prominently throughout your website.
- 2. Test to make sure the sign up form is functioning properly.
- 3. Don’t use too many required fields – only ask for information that will be used to personalise the newsletter.
- 4. Include an informative sentence in the subscribe box describing what you will send, and how often.
- 5. Include a link to the current edition of the newsletter.
- 6. Allow subscribers to select html or text formatting.
- 7. Include a link to your privacy statement (required by legislation).
- 8. Don’t forget to have your subscribe box in every issue of the newsletter to capture new subscribers who had the newsletter forwarded to them.
