Denise Cox urges that every opportunity to capture a potential email customer is vital.
Looking to build your list of subscribers for your email newsletter? Here are a few permission-based opt-in ideas to get you going:
Online: Have your sign-up form everywhere – on every page of your website and in the newsletter itself. Offer opt-in to it in your online sales query processes. Take advantage of any social networking profiles you have in LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc., by including a link to the newsletter in your profile. Also have it inserted into your email signature file.
Offline: Feature it on your business cards. Include subscribe instructions in your voicemail and company hold messages - callers on hold might be sitting at their computer and sign-up. Take advantage of transactional emails such as invoices, confirmations or statements and include a link. Take advantage of any other marketing channels, such as printed material, to plug your publication.
In person: Have a sign-up sheet at any of your trade show appearances, events and presentations. Also have the sign-up sheet in strategic bricks-and-mortar locations, such as your reception desk or at purchase point.
The fact is that every opportunity, no matter how small, presents you with the chance to establish a permission based relationship via email with with existing and future customers. Don't let it pass your business by.
