Building your subscriber list

Denise Cox says that in order to build a subscription list you need to be proactive about securing subscriber attention.
Want to grow your permission-based subscriber list? First, create a registration form that attracts sign-ups. Include details of what you will send and how often. Better still, include a link to a sample issue and details on your privacy policy.
Now it’s time to promote it. Start by placing the form prominently throughout your company's website. Don’t forget to place it in each issue of your email newsletter. This makes it easy for anyone who receives a forwarded copy and wants to be added to the mailing list.
- Here are some other ideas to help you cast your net wide:
- Include a subscribe link in your email signature file.
- Place a permanent tell-a-friend function in your template design.
- Put a link to the sign-up form in all your social networking profiles. When you send a newsletter, publish the link to your streams, such as Twitter and LinkedIn
- Create an email address specifically for signing up to the newsletter. Now put it in all your printed material (e.g. bills, invoices or statements) - include it in your hold and voice-mail messages.
- Promote it through offline and online advertising.
- Have a sign-up sheet available at your trade shows stands.
