Customer contact center brings 600 new jobs to Galway | Vodafone launches 'view my bill' tool from SoftCo

Tanaiste Mary Harney announced that Churchill Insurance Group plc is to create 600 new jobs over the next five years in Galway. The company, with the support of IDA Ireland, is establishing an additional customer interaction centre, which will be close to its existing facility at Ballybrit Business Park. While the majority of positions will be for advisors to handle inbound calls, there will also be a need for team leaders, business unit managers, IT support staff, HR support, trainers and quality control staff.

Irish information security company Rits has formed a strategic partnership with security services company Group 4 Falck to provide information security and information risk management consultancy to Group 4 Falck's Irish clients.

IrelandOffline has said that it is encouraged by news of the resolution of the bitstream and Local Loop Unbundling negotiations between Eircom and the ODTR. The organisation also called for a parallel introduction of flat-rate services to encourage Irish consumers and businesses to make more use of the Internet, and to accelerate Ireland's economic and cultural development.

Vodafone on Thursday announced the launch of "View My Bill", a new on-line service which will allow customers to view their bills on the Internet. The Web-based infrastructure provided by SoftCo will enable users to view current and recent bills, as well as any unbilled calls made.

EDS on Thursday announced contracts with new Swiss intercontinental carrier SWISS and several subsidiaries of the former Swissair Group. The company valued the contracts at USD200 million.

Asia's first multimedia messaging service (MMS), recently launched by Hong Kong CSL Limited, has been implemented with the Nokia MMS solution, under an agreement signed earlier this year.

m-Wise has won a contract to supply Omnitel Vodafone with a premium mobile application platform, including hosting, content management, reporting, user analysis and customer service tools. The licence agreement with m-Wise is for the outsourcing of mobile entertainment and games applications that Omnitel Vodafone is marketing under its own brand.

Sega.com, Inc., the network entertainment company, announced the launch of Sega Mobile, a new division of Sega.com dedicated to bringing Sega gaming to cellular phone and PDA users in North America.
