Fujitsu and Irish company Am-Beo sign global alliance | AT&T revenues hit USD12 billion in the first quarter

Ticketmaster released first quarter results for the period ended 31 March 2002 reporting an increase of 8.6 percent in revenue over the comparable year ago period to USD185.9 million. Adjusted EBITDA in the first quarter of 2002 was USD29.7 million, compared to adjusted EBITDA of USD18.8 million in the year ago quarter, an improvement of 58.4 percent.

XML Global Technologies has signed a reseller agreement with Datalex Communications USA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Datalex plc. Under the terms of the agreement, Datalex will resell XML Global's products in combination with its BookIt Matrix product.

Fujitsu and Am-Beo have announced a global alliance to explore opportunities in telecoms revenue management. Under the agreement Fujitsu will deliver solutions based on Am-Beo technology to the growing multi-party content settlement market.

Siemens and Eircom have launched a new switch platform that will enable SMEs to reduce communications costs without large investment in new technology. By using the Siemens HiPath solution customers can benefit from the efficiencies of IP (Internet protocol) technology for voice and data communications.

Qualcomm Incorporated announced its second quarter fiscal 2002 results on Wednesday. Pro forma revenues were USD659 million compared to USD717 million in the year ago quarter and USD693 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2002. Pro forma earnings per share were USD0.20 in the second quarter of fiscal 2002 compared to USD0.26 per share in the year ago quarter and USD0.23 per share in the first quarter of fiscal 2002.

A new text messaging solution from Logica aims to reduce higher levels of credit and debit card fraud. Logica's C-TAS solution allows financial institutions to alert cardholders via a text message of any suspect card transactions, anywhere in the world. The system works by picking up exceptions issued from the card issuers fraud management systems or through the alert parameters predefined by the consumer.

AT&T announced first-quarter earnings of USD0.06 per diluted share from continuing operations, excluding other expense/income, compared with a loss of USD0.02 on the same basis for the same quarter last year. AT&T's first-quarter EBITDA from continuing operations, excluding other expense/income, totalled USD3.28 billion, a decline of 11.7 percent from the year-ago quarter. Revenue for the quarter was USD12.02 billion, a decline of 8.4 percent on a pro forma basis compared to the year-ago quarter.

IBM has introduced the T30, a new ThinkPad notebook computer, which offers UltraNav, a multi-pointing system that combines the TrackPoint device with a new programmable touch pad. The T30 also offers IBM's HDD shock absorber, which provides a cushion of air to help protect memory and prevent loss of data when a notebook in use is placed on a hard surface.
