Eircom to raise line rental price from June | US agencies target spammers promising Sars cures
Former telecom monopoly Eircom on Monday said that it would raise its line rental price by about 6.4 percent to EUR22.50 per month from 2 June. However, the company said that it would cut its charges from fixed-lines to 087 mobiles by about 9.6 percent, from EUR0.21 to EUR0.19 per minute excluding VAT. It was just two months ago that Eircom previously raised line rental prices by almost 8 percent.
AEP Systems, Bull and Cryptomathic are to partner to provide IT security solutions for criminal justice, police and government agencies. Each company will provide technology in their respective speciality of hardware security and acceleration, secure infrastructure design and e-security software products and services. The companies noted that the UK Chancellor Gordon Brown has budgeted over STG330 million for enhancing UK security through counter-terrorism and military initiatives.
3Com and Datapac have begun a network rollout for Cantrell & Cochrane, the beverage and snacks company, across 12 offices. The upgrade sees the company moving from a shared token ring network to a switched Ethernet network running at 100mbps, and the rollout is expected to take 18 months. 3Com and its channel partner Datapac said the deal is worth more than EUR200,000.
BIC Systems is to provide training in new Microsoft technologies to Microsoft Ireland's channel partners in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Through a total of 10 courses BIC will give learners tuition in technologies including .Net, Visual Studio, Windows 2003 Server and Active Directory.
Two federal agencies in the US are pinpointing sites and spammers that promote alleged Sars cures, stating that spammers have to remove misleading information or risk penalties. The Federal Trade Commission and the Food and Drug Administration have warned those selling products related to Sars could be subject to fines because their claims are not backed up by scientific fact.
New Tigers Consultancy has signed an agreement with MobileAware for the testing of its Everix Mobility Suite for the Asian market. As part of the agreement, NTC will run the Everix Multi-Channel Platform on an application configured to the Chinese language markets and test the results.
Performix Technologies has joined the Concerto Software Technology Alliance Program. Cathal McGloin, CEO of Performix Technologies, said the alliance will enable Performix to combine its employee performance management technology with Concerto Software's unified contact centre solution.
Celare, the specialist information security company, says it now has a new base in the centre of Dublin. Celare's locally appointed country manager, Carmel Owens, and the company's Dublin based technical team will now operate out of its parent company's Irish headquarters in George's Quay, Dublin. The company was recently acquired by Newell & Budge.
