Face to Face: Cyril McGuire, CEO Trintech
At its height, Irish payment security company Trintech was valued at around USD4.5 billion and its sibling founders Cyril and John McGuire were worth USD650 million apiece. Since those heady days the company's shares have lost 99.5 percent of their value and a recent four for one split did little to boost prices. Trintech's new CEO Cyril McGuire talks Face to Face with Matthew Clark about the firm's past and future.

World Cup games launch on O2
Friday, May 31 2002
by Ciaran Buckley

Mobile applications developer Zamano has announced the launch of "Caviar and
Cabbage" and "Mystic Mick," new games that O2 customers can play on their
handsets. Caviar and Cabbage is a true-or-false football trivia game and Mystic Mick is a
game of prediction and chance, whereby players predict the outcome of football
matches. Customers play the games via SMS and results are tallied on the O2 Web
site.

The new World Cup games are part of Zamano's M-Ent suite of mobile games. The
company launched its Smart Ass game last year on the Digifone network prior to
its rebranding as O2. The games are available to 36 million subscribers in
Ireland, the UK and the Netherlands through O2, KPN and Orange.

Zamano also organises mobile services that allow companies to target their
customers for the purposes of polls and promotions. The company was founded in
1999 by Darren O Rodaigh and Eoin O Ceallachain shortly after they graduated from
DCU. Initially they developed mobile applications for London City Airport and
British rail company Connex.

The company provides mobile applications that span SMS, WAP, GPRS and 3G phone
systems, and it currently employs 16 people in Dublin.

Applications like mobile games are seen as a key offering for mobile operators as
they seek to boost revenue per user. O2 said this week that data services
accounted for more than 13 percent of its total service revenues over the past
year.
