Business software firm ASG Software Solutions has opened a new office in Dublin as it sets its sights on the Irish market.
The company aims to create 10 positions at the new facility within the next year, with staff working in sales and engineering roles. ASG already has more than 90 offices globally serving the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific regions. The new Dublin office is the Florida firm's first in Ireland. The business also has a research and development facility in Northern Ireland, where it has 20 employees.
Tulin Pledger, EMEA marketing director with ASG, said the decision to enter the Irish market represented an important step in the company's global expansion, which has accelerated in recent years.
"Dublin's a good business centre for Ireland. We have some good customers in Ireland already and we are seeing tremendous growth in our business throughout the world," she told ENN.
"Considering Ireland's track record, and where it is today in software, it's difficult to imagine a more desirable location for ASG," said Pledger. "Since the 1980s, Ireland has experienced tremendous growth in the software industry, in manufacturing as well as in its fulfillment, translation, and support services. And today, Ireland is the largest exporter of software in the world."
ASG was set up in Florida in 1986 when the firm had just 10 staff and one office. The business has expanded substantially over the past two decades and now has 1,500 employees worldwide.
Pledger said the firm was always looking for growth opportunities and Dublin presented the business with an opportunity for further development. "We've created quite a bit of momentum, and we expect that to continue as we strengthen our presence in Dublin," she said.
ASG develops software solutions the likes of applications management, content management and infrastructure management.
ASG's chief executive Arthur Allen and the firm's chief technical officer John Connor will both be in Dublin later this month. The pair will host a luncheon and executive briefing at Croke Park on 25 June. Allen is using the event to introduce Irish business people to the company he founded 22 years ago as well as to discuss his vision for the industry. He will also be discussing ASG's expansion into Ireland, its hiring and investment, and what the move means for the company.
