BSB creates 20 Dublin jobs | Buyout bid at BearingPoint
Belgian financial software firm BSB is to create 20 new jobs with the creation of an operations hub in Dublin. The new development was announced by the Tanaiste Mary Coughlan on Thursday. BSB employs over 220 people across Europe. The Irish hub will be responsible for sales, business and systems analysis, systems integration, software development and technical support for the Irish and UK markets.
IT and management consultancy, BearingPoint Ireland, which employs 200 people in Dublin, will be part of a management buyout of the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) practice. The Irish operation will be part of a BearingPoint international organisation which employs 3,250 people and has revenues in excess of EUR500 million. BearingPoint Ireland recorded revenues of EUR30 million in 2008.
Meteor has introduced a new set of bill pay tariffs through a new website www.nocatch.ie . The mobile operator claims that customers can now avail of substantial savings on their mobile bills due to the new tariffs. The new website has an online calculator aimed at demonstrating the potential savings available compared to other operators.
Derry-based e-learning firm Learning Pool, has secured a STG20 million deal in South Africa. The company, which provides products for the public sector, has agreed a deal with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply. The deal will first focus on marketing the Derry firm’s products in South Africa before moving on to neighbouring regions next year.
The European Commission has begun its probe into the proposed takeover of Sun Microsystems by Oracle. The commission’s initial market investigation into the proposed purchase of the hardware and software vendor raised competition concerns. The commission now has until 19 January 2010, to take a final decision on whether the concentration would significantly impede effective competition within the European Economic Area or a substantial part of it.
