Microsoft has launched its new Windows 7 operating system globally. The long-awaited new operating system is designed to offer a more streamlined and user friendly interface, following criticisms of its predecessor Windows Vista. The firm's Irish operations played a key role in the roll-out as Microsoft's European Operations Centre was responsible for 1 million copies of Windows 7 reaching over 25,000 stores in 42 countries across the EMEA region. More information on the operating system can be found at www.microsoft.ie/windows7 .

In other Microsoft related news, the firm's Bing search engine and Google have agreed deals to include Twitter posts in internet searches. The deals will see messages -- or tweets -- show up in search results almost as soon as they show up on Twitter. Microsoft's standalone Twitter search page is already accessible through Bing while Google said its service would debut within the next few months. Financial details of the deal have not been revealed yet.
