UL spin out nets funding | DoneDeal.ie outlines growth
University of Limerick spin out ResourceKraft, which develops energy cost control technology, has secured EUR600,000 in funding from the Bank of Ireland Seed and Early Stage Equity Fund. ResourceKraft said it will use the funding to hire new software developers as it expands beyond Ireland and the UK.
Classified ads website DoneDeal.ie has claimed it now has 3.6 million visitors per month, with 1 million of these being unique visitors, according to figures from IrelandMetrix. The site was founded in 2005 by Fred and Geraldine Karlsson, and now features over 80,000 ads.
Datacentre services provider Interxion has officially opened its second datacentre in Dublin. Based in Park West, the EUR12 million facility is 2,455m2, bringing the firm's overall capacity to 4,755m2. Minister Eamon Ryan was on hand to open the facility.
Video sharing site YouTube has re-vamped its video page. The site has concentrated on tidying up the page in a bid to encourage users to spend more time on the site. Changes include reducing the number of links on the video pages, and moving the name of the video's submitter to just below the title. YouTube is also eliminating its five-star video rating system, replacing it with a "like" or "dislike" option.
The world is gearing up for the launch of Apple's iPad on 3 April; however, some reviewers have already had their hands on it, including the Wall Street Journal's Walt Mossberg, who gave the device quite the thumbs up. Check out his review here.
