Students nationwide are getting set to hit Dublin for the 2011 BT Young Scientist event, which kicks off on Wednesday.
Eager young scientists across Ireland are busy putting the finishing touches to their science and technology projects in the run up to the official opening of the 2011 BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.
The event, which will be officially opened by President Mary McAleese on Wednesday, is the largest of its kind in Europe showcasing students’ talents in the areas of science, technology, mathematics and engineering.
Apart from the 346 participating schools, over 35,000 visitors are expected to come through the doors of the RDS to view projects and the impressive array of entertainment acts. This year visitors will be treated to shows including children’s TV presenter 'Nature Guy' Dale Treadwell and the W5 team, who will demonstrate the chemical reactions in fire by creating fire tornadoes.
