Nokia is to launch a free multimedia game, in which players from 18 countries across Europe, including Ireland, can participate.
Nokia Game, which will be available from November, is expected to be the largest game of its kind to ever hit Ireland, and possibly Europe. It will be playable through TV, radio and the press, as well as the Internet, voice mail, e-mail and SMS.
The game, which has been a year in planning, is accessible to anyone owning a mobile phone with text messaging - regardless of brand. Those with access to the Internet can register on-line.
Players stepping into the shoes of the game's main character will have to scour coded columns in national newspapers, listen to the radio and search the Internet for clues. They will have to decipher strange text messages received in the middle of the night, make sense of bewildering TV ads and liase with virtual strangers to crack each clue.
As the clues and stages progress, players will be whittled down to a handful of gamers spread across Europe, competing for the star prize of an all expenses VIP trip to an MTV Europe Snowball event in Italy in January 2001.
Nokia introduced a range of fun, simple games to its mobile phones in 1998, which are now a standard feature on every model.
Anyone with a mobile phone and access to the Internet can register to play at www.nokiagame.com between October 7 and 31. Nokia Game starts on November 1.
