Avaya, the former Enterprise Network Group of Lucent Technologies, was officially launched on Monday.
On its first day of trading independently, Avaya introduced Avaya Hosted Solutions, which enables next-generation service providers (xSPs) to expand their offers beyond Web hosting and messaging.
A suite of packaged and integrated communications software, hardware and services, Avaya Hosted Solutions enables xSPs to expand their communications offerings for both small-to-medium sized businesses and large enterprise customers to a broad array of communications applications.
These include hosted Internet Protocol (IP) telephony for employees located in central headquarters and remote offices, hosted contact centres, hosted messaging and hosted collaboration, as well as multi-service infrastructure.
According to industry data, the market for all communications services provided through xSPs is expected to grow from USD15 billion now to USD85 billion in 2003.
xSPs include Application Service Providers, hosting providers, communications service providers, portals and trading exchanges.
The rebranded company's focus is on working with local customers and multinationals, said John Winchester, vice-president and general manager for the UK & Ireland. "We can anticipate an increase in focus and speed to market," he said.
Ireland can look forward to hosting more ASPs, Winchester added. Avaya currently employs 300 people in Dublin and he said that as part of a global strategy more money will be invested in R&D.
