Ice Broadband rolls out broadband services in Limerick | AIB in EUR2 million deal with Sun
FBD Insurance has extended its sponsorship of Fair City to the soap's podcasts on RTE.ie. These feature specially recorded video content from the Fair City cast which is only available in podcast format. Each podcast features an actor talking in character to the camera about his/her character and other facets of the programme.
A new study, commissioned by Oracle and conducted by research firm Ponemon Institute has found that 42 percent of IT practitioners believe their organisations are doing an inadequate job in diminishing the loss or theft of confidential information. The report, which has the clunky title of 2007 Survey: What Worries IT & Compliance Practitioners Most about Privacy and Data Security, examined the perceptions of more than 1,000 IT and compliance practitioners related to common privacy and data protection risks that might seriously impact their organisations. The survey also found that 45 percent of IT respondents believed they would be unable to notify users and customers impacted by a data breach.
Ice Broadband is to roll out wireless broadband services across County Limerick, including both the city and the rural areas. "Our promise when we first built this company was to provide a broadband service to communities and people that were outside the broadband loop," said Yvonne Rooney, managing director of Ice Broadband. "This service will be highly beneficial for local businesses and home-users across County Limerick in towns such as Ballyneety, Caherconlish and Castleconnell."
AIB has relocated one of its two data centres in a deal with Sun Microsystems worth almost EUR2 million. The move was made due to an increase in data volumes and restrictions on space AIB faced. The banking giant moved its data centre, including its tape backup infrastructure, to new premises in Dublin using Sun Microsystems StorageTek products.
Conduit, a contact centre services firm, has won the award for Customer Service Management Team of the Year at the Irish Customer Service Awards. Conduit won the award for its work with Talk Talk. The firm was also nominated in four other categories at the event.
Yvonne Guerin has been appointed channel sales support executive for Magnet Business. Guerin will be responsible for supporting Magnet's channel partners on a daily basis. Prior to joining Magnet Business Guerin worked in project administration with Softworks Computing for over five years before becoming the company administrator with Netsource.
